How Mote's Audio Upload feature integrates with Google Forms

Let’s dive into Mote's audio upload feature, allowing users to create mote messages from uploaded audio recordings! Navigate to 'Creating Mode' in the Mote Sidebar to see the Audio Upload button.

🎙️ Steps to use Mote’s Audio Upload feature:

1. Navigate to Creating Mode
   Click on the Mote extension to open the sidebar. Now navigate to 'Creating Mode'

2. Upload your audio file
   Click on the 'Audio Upload' button. Drag your file into the space or click “Select a file” to search for your desired audio.
   Note: Mote accepts .mp3, .m4a, .wav, and .wma files of up to 5 MB in size.

3. Edit and review your transcription
   After your compatible file is uploaded and processed, you’ll have a shareable, transcribed mote message to edit based on your assessment preferences. Mote will even detect the language in the recording automatically!

4. Share your mote message
   Once your uploaded audio is ready, share the new mote link in the feedback, description, question, or answer fields within your Google Form.

This Mote integration is a fantastic way to engage learners with real-world audio while offering more meaningful listening assessments.

Depending on the type of Google Form survey a teacher shares, students can gain access to Mote’s audio player with or without transcribed text.

However, playback speed options and audio message functionality remain available regardless of whether the original text transcription exists.

💡 Audio Upload Activity Ideas:

The following five ideas can be adapted to fit your individual needs and offer a good entry point for using Mote’s Audio Upload functionality within Google Forms assessments:

1. Listening Comprehension Assessment: Upload a short story, dialogue, or announcement in the target language. Create questions in the Google Form asking students to identify main ideas, key details, or implied meanings.

2. Pronunciation Feedback Assessment: Upload audio of a native speaker pronouncing target words or sentences. Add questions that require students to record themselves repeating the phrases, allowing you to assess their pronunciation accuracy.

3. Dictation Exercise: Upload a passage in the target language and ask students to transcribe it in their response. Then, assess their ability to accurately recognize and reproduce spelling, grammar, and punctuation from the audio.

4. Vocabulary in Context: Upload an audio clip in which target vocabulary words are used in context. The Form should include multiple-choice or fill-in-the-blank questions to assess whether students understand the meaning of the words based on their usage.

5. Listening and Reflection: Upload an audio recording of a complex or thought-provoking statement in the target language. Ask students to reflect on its meaning and provide their opinion in their own words.
