Scan Text

Point the camera at a book, worksheet or sign and Mote pulls the text out to read aloud, including a selected area of a page.

Qué hace esta función:

Scan Text uses the camera to lift text off anything printed. Photograph a book, a worksheet or a sign and Mote recognizes the text and reads it aloud with follow-along highlighting. The Image Reader lets a student drag the corners to select just part of the page and tap Read Selected Area, so a single question or paragraph can be read on its own. Recognition runs on the device first, with a cloud fallback for harder images.

Por qué es importante:

  • Makes printed classroom material accessible, which is where most reading barriers still sit
  • Selecting an area keeps a student on the question they are working on instead of hearing the whole page
  • On-device recognition means it works without a good connection
  • Gives students a way to access handouts independently, without asking an adult to read for them

MTSS:

  • Tier 1: Any printed material becomes readable for the whole class
  • Tier 2/3: Independent access to worksheets and textbooks for students who need text read to them

UDL Principles:

  • Multiple means of representation: print converted to audio on demand
