School Language

Set the default product language for a whole school or district, with any individual free to override it in their own settings.

What this feature does:

School Language is an account-level setting that fixes the default language of Mote itself for everyone in the school or district. A Quebec board can set French and every student and teacher gets Mote in French by default. Any individual can override it in their own personal settings.

Why it matters:

  • Sets the right language once, centrally, rather than asking every student to find the setting
  • Matters most for the students least likely to change it themselves, who are often the ones who need it
  • A default, not a lock: any individual can still choose their own language
  • Supports districts operating in a language other than English

MTSS:

  • Tier 1: The product arrives in the district's language for every user
  • Tier 2/3: Individual overrides for students who need a different language

UDL Principles:

  • Multiple means of representation: the interface itself in the user's language
