The Select Area tool allows users to click and drag over text that cannot be highlighted normally, such as in images, PDFs, or scanned documents. Mote then reads the selected content aloud with word-by-word highlighting.

Click the Mote extension icon to open the Sidebar
Choose the Select Area button (second icon from the top)
Click and drag the box to highlight text within an image, screenshot, or PDF.
